A security cleared Senior JavaScript Contractor, Gavin Orland has been working with the web since 1998, and has written thousands of lines of code as a core Agile team member and Front End Lead on many large, enterprise Agile projects.
These have been for multiple government departments, including the Royal Navy, the Police Service, Homeland Security and Border Force. Orland Media has worked for many private clients as well, including Nationwide, Jaguar Land Rover and Telefonica/O2.
Our skills
We have particular expertise and experience in React (a JavaScript library), “vanilla” JavaScript (ES6/7), TypeScript and, of course, the latest CSS and HTML.
Familiar with version control (Git), unit testing frameworks, npm and numerous third party packages, we pay close attention to accessibility and to optimising code for fast loading and execution.
We also have a keen appreciation of design rules, and are completely familiar with applications such as Figma. We understand that our role as expert programmers is to faithfully turn the designers’ signed-off designs into reality within an application, exactly as intended.

Who hires us?
We usually work via recruitment agencies. They often have working relationships with software service providers, who in turn employ companies such as Orland Media to supply staff to work for end clients, such as the Home Office.
We’re happy to work within this model, however we are also able to provide expert developers directly to larger software service providers, or directly to end clients.
